In August of last year, the world’s largest online video service was accused of violating copyright by streaming anime pornography.
It was the result of a lawsuit filed by Japanese anime and manga fan-franchise The Animelist.
The Animelist sued Cartoon Network, Warner Bros. and Netflix, alleging that they failed to adequately license and copyright the content and were guilty of copyright infringement.
This was a major blow to the streaming giant, which is now suing the Animelist for $50 million.
The anime porn saga began when the Animellist launched a petition in August, asking fans to sign a petition urging Warner Bros., Warner Bros./AMC and Netflix to license anime and stop streaming the content.
The Animellists petition was so successful that Warner Bros/AMC soon signed the petition, and Netflix agreed to license the content in September.
But the legal battle began to drag on.
The lawsuit was eventually filed in Japan, and the content eventually made its way to American shores.
On September 16, the lawsuit was dismissed.
In a statement, the Animelist stated, “We believe the dismissal was premature.
We have no idea how the dismissal will play out, and our legal team is preparing for the best possible outcome.
The animelist has not received any payments from Warner Bros, AMC or Netflix.
We are considering our options.”
