Disney Animation, the company behind The Little Mermaid, The Incredibles and many others, is making a new series based on a popular Japanese anime character named Tatsumi, the WSJ reported on Monday.
Disney chief creative officer John Lasseter and his team are developing the series with animation studio BONES, the Journal reported.
The series will focus on the adventures of the girl, Tatsumin, a.k.a.
Tatsumis Momo, as she seeks to learn to become an animator.
Tatsuya Kudo, a partner at BONES and animation director on the series, told the Journal that the project will focus “on the characters Tatsume and her journey.”
Disney is working on several series, including the new Disney XD show, including Disney Animated Series and Disney XD: Magical Adventures.
